Peds Cardiothoracic Surgery Coverage

Start Date: 03/10/2025
Contract Length: 26 Weeks
Shift Details: Day Shift, Variable shifts
Schedule: 4x10; might be OT if case goes long and provider is scrubbing; 1 weekend required/month

Work Details:
• Support staff: 6 APPs, 2 fellows, 3 surgical attendings
• Patients per day: Floor: 3-8 patients/day; usually 4-5 patients during week; weekends heavier census
• Patient population/age: mostly peds, 8% adult population
• Department Description: sees all types of congenital heart disease patients

o Provider will be responsible for frontline management for cardiac stepdown and prepare them for discharge
o Provider may care for patients post-heart transplant. Providers will not be caring for patients prior to transplant
o Provider will be responsible for consenting families prior to surgery
o Provider will be responsible for ICU consults
